ICT
in general is part of everyday life; we need to ensure that all pupils
acquire a knowledge and understanding, combined with the ability to use
various forms of ICT throughout the curriculum and in their future.
Melior Community College ICT Department aims to provide all pupils with
the chance to achieve their potential in ICT, by providing interesting
and challenging ICT lessons at both key stages.
We
are very fortunate to be involved in two major projects: BSF (Building
Schools for the Future) and Computers for Pupils (CfP). These project
will impact our pupils and the teaching and learning at Melior Community
College.
We
are focussing on Melior Community College being an “Anytime, anywhere”
school which will motivate the school to become e-confident, which will
encourage personalise learning in all subject areas.
All
subject areas will use a common digital platform which will be use
throughout North Lincolnshire LEA, with handheld devices which will all
be connected to the school network, not only can this be accessed at
school but also at home, to continue learning, homework and coursework.
ICT
at Key Stage 3 consists of projects which incorporates the ICT National
Curriculum and preparation for the OCR Nationals. In Year 7 and 9 they
have a 1 lesson a week of ICT and ICTAC.
Within Key Stage 4, ICT lessons pupils will complete the OCR National in
ICT and what effort they put in is what they achieve! Pupils can work
towards 1 to 4 GCSE’s in ICT, with no exam.
ICT
is changing very rapidly in schools, we must adapt with the times to
give our pupils a better future.
